Morag has owned and operated a self catering property in Perthshire for over 30 years.

I have owned self-catering properties for over 30 years. I am extremely concerned about the impending licensing scheme which I think will be used as a cash revenue system for local councils. I am worried about officials with no experience of our industry being asked to sign off licences.

I have grave concerns about the ability of local councils to even begin to understand the effects of their judgements. On top of that we are now faced with an unprecedented increase in operating costs. I have never charged extra for electricity. I have always been open all year.I find myself now considering closure during the winter months in order to be able to trade next year. Otherwise I face going into the red just to pay utility bills and the new licensing fees.
